Gulls Defeat Vikings in Season Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – Salem State field hockey opened their 2024 season on the road tonight when they traveled to crosstown foe, Endicott College, for a non-conference bout. The Gulls scored six goals in the first half to carry them to the 10-0 shutout over the Vikings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Gulls opened the first stanza with two goals before doubling that tally in the second period, thanks to a pair of goals from Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.), to make it a 6-0 game at the break.
  • Endicott would find the back of the net four more times in the second half before taking the dominate 10-0 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Seven Vikings made their debut for Salem State in tonight's loss.
  • Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.) turned away nine shots in her sophomore debut for the Vikings.
  • The Gulls held the Vikings to zero penalty corners and zero shots on the night.

UP NEXT:

This Saturday, September 7th the Vikings welcome the Seahawks from Salve Regina for their home opener. The game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. at Alumni Field.
