McCarthy Attends DIII National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Conference

SALEM, Mass. – Senior field hockey player Kelli McCarthy recently represented the MASCAC (Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference) at this year's DIII National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Conference.

Hosted by the NCAA, as the MASCAC and Salem State University's SAAC President, McCarthy was able to attend this year's conference virtually as student-athletes from around the country were able to participate in various workshops and seminars relating to enhancing the student-athlete experience.

This year, open discussions, which included NCAA President Mark Emmert, focused on the newly implemented NIL policy and the ongoing challenges of transgender athletes.

Added McCarthy, "personally, being a part of these meetings allowed me a broader perspective on how the NCAA runs and how impactful the voices of SAAC can be. It allowed me to truly represent the MASCAC and Little East conferences and assure my leagues and specifically my university that their voices can be heard at the NCAA Division III level."

The mission of the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to improve the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.
