Vikings Stay Alive With Win Over Rams

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- No. 5 seed Salem Salem State stayed alive in the 2025 MASCAC Baseball Tournament with a 5-2 victory over No. 6 seed Framingham State. Jake Boucher won his second straight start, going 6.1 innings while allowing just two runs on five hits with four strikeouts. The Vikings (19-17) will face the loser between No. 1 Bridgewater State and No. 2 Mass Maritime in the double elimination tournament tomorrow at noon.

Anthony Butkevicius picked up his first save with two scoreless innings, recording four strikeouts. Connor Dolan and Owen Duggan collected two hits apiece to go with a run and RBI each.

Jason Strickland (1-4) took the loss for Framingham State as he went 3.1 innings, allowing five runs on six hits with two walks. Christian Cox had a multi-hit game for the Rams with two walks a run and RBI.

 

How It Happened

  • The Rams scored both runs in the first on an RBI single by Cox and a John Lynch groundout.
  • Boucher put Salem State on the board with a sacrifice fly in the second.
  • A single by Ethan Stepputtis and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Bourgeois in the third gave the Vikings a 3-2 lead.
  • Dolan made the score 4-2 with a base hit to left center before Duggan's RBI double gave Salem State a 5-2 advantage in the fifth.
