SALEM, Mass. -- Ethan Supplettis went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI and Aidan Carabello threw six innings on the mound to earn the win as Salem State defeated Westfield State, 13-8 at  Hagan Field in MASCAC baseball action on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings improve to 7-11 overall and 3-4 in conference. The Owls are now 16-7 and 3-4.

How It Happened:

Carabello allowed six runs - five earned - on seven hits to earn his second win of the season (2-3). Brandon McMahon and Anthony Butkevicius combined for three innings in relief, each allowing one run. Connor Dolan was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

  • Westfield pulled ahead in the first inning as Dan Burnett ripped a solo home run out to left field for a 1-0 lead. Salem State took the lead in the third inning after a two out double from Connor Dolan.
  •  Sam Palmer responded for the Owls in the bottom half of the frame, punching a grounder down the left field line for a run-scoring single to knot the game up at two runs apiece.

  • A seven-run fifth catapulted Salem State to an 11-2 lead. Michael Buccaro singled up the middle to drive in two. The Vikings recorded three consecutive hits, a walk, then another hit to open a nine-run advantage through four and a half innings.
  • In the sixth inning, Jacob Lucas and Chase Racine totaled back-to-back run-scoring hits to trim the deficit to seven runs, but Nolan Currier had the answer in the ensuing top half, belting a two-out, two-run double into the left centerfield gap.
