Johns Hopkins Defeats Salem State 6-2

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Salem State ended their spring campaign with a 6-2 loss to Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Chain of Lakes. Five Blue Jays pitchers allowed just two hits on the day with reliever William Boneno picking up the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief with a pair of walks and two strikeouts. Salem State starter Nolan Currier allowed two runs on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts. The Vikings are now 3-6 on the season.

Jake Boucher was 1-for-2 with a run and two walks, while Antonio Belgrove collected the Vikings other hit.

How It Happened

  • Johns Hopkins pitcher Connor Henk walked the bases loaded in the first. Consecutive wild pitches brought in the first two runs of the game for Salem State.
  • The Blue Jays countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI singe by Caleb Cyr and a bases loaded walk to Lukas Geer.
  • Johns Hopkins went ahead with two runs in the second on a base hit by Jacob Harris and a fielder's choice from Cyr.
  • Dillon Souvignier's sacrifice fly made it 5-2 in the fourth before two walks and a hit brought home the sixth run on a wild pitch in the seventh.

Salem State returns home and will travel to Keene State for a game on Wednesday, March 26 @ 3:00 pm.
