Pioneers Prevail Over Vikings

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Salem State continued their spring Florida trip against William Paterson on Friday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Field. The Pioneers scored a 13-7 victory over the Vikings to improve to 13-4 on the season. Salem State slips to 3-5.
Nolan Currier continued his excellent spring, going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Currier has collected at least two hits in 6-of-7 games during the trip. Jake Boucher had two hits in five trips to the plate and Owen Duggan went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Starter Cam Fisher lasted five innings, allowing 10 hits -six earned runs with four walks and a strikeout.
How It Happened
- William Paterson plated three in the first on an RBI single by Braden Ramirez and a two-run double by Stephen Kubis.
- Trailing 4-0 in the third, Salem State scored three consecutive runs on back-to-back hits by Antonio Belgrove and Currier and an RBI groundout by Duggan.
- The Vikings added two in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Duggan and a wild pitch that made the score 7-5 in favor of the Pioneers.
- A four-run sixth by William Paterson increased the lead to 11-5 as the Pioneers sent 10 men to the plate. Thomas Jova and Jordan Brown brought home runs on a hit and walk before Eliot Germanson's two-run single to left made it 11-5.
- Ethan Supplettis added an RBI single in the seventh for the Vikings, who stranded eight runners in the game.
