UMass Boston Wins 17-7 Over Salem State

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Salem State took on UMass Boston at Lake Myrtle Park on Monday with the Beacons delivering a 17-7 win over the Vikings. UMass Boston improves to 8-2 while the Vikings are now 2-2.
Cam Fisher started for the Vikings, lasting 3.2 innings giving up eight runs on eight hits. Nolan Currier went 3-for-5 with four RBI for Salem State while Dylan Adamson was 2-for-2.
How it Happened:
- UMass Boston took a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI double by Reed Burkett-Schneider and RBI groundout by Nick Farnacci.
- Salem State responded with a run in the bottom of the inning as an Owen Duggan walk to open the inning was followed by a single from Dylan Adamson. A wild pitch plated Duggan with the Vikings' first run.
- The Beacons opened the game up in the sixth, scoring six times to take an 8-1 lead. Burkett-Schneider and Ryan Slack delivered three runs on RBI singles. Two more runs crossed the plate before Justin Gouveia tripled to right center, bringing home the sixth run of the inning.
- UMass Boston added four more runs in the eighth on two hits and a sacrifice fly.
- Currier's two-run single in the bottom of the eighth cut into the deficit, but a sacrifice fly and RBI singles by Richard Williams and Jayden Lafleur in the top of the ninth made the score 17-4 in favor of the Beacons.
- Nicholas McIntyre's single and Currier's two-run base hit drove in three more runs for Salem State, making the final 17-7.
