SALEM, Mass.- Chase Racine (Pittsfield, Mass.) was responsible for four of the Owls 11 runs to lead Westfield State to an 11-5 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over Salem State on Friday afternoon at Central Campus Baseball Field. The Owls improved to 16-8, 5-2 while the Vikings dropped to 11-8, 4-3.
How It Happened
- The Owls scored two runs in the opening frame before doubling that in the second with four to give them the 6-0 edge after two.

- Edward Field (Gloucester, Mass.) answered in the home half of the fifth with a deep shot over the left field fence before his team managed to bring around two more runs to make it a 10-3 game.
- The Owls added one more in the eighth before the Vikings answered with two of their own to make it a 11-5 game, which would carry through the final inning to solidify the Owls MASCAC victory.
Noteworthy
- James Dolan (Rockland, Mass.) went 3 for 4 with one RBI while Owen Duggan (Billerica, Mass.) was the only Viking that recorded two RBIs.
- Ryan Lapierre (Pittsfield, Mass.) pitched seven innings for the Owls giving up five hits and three runs, one of which was earned.
- Field notched his first collegiate home run in the effort.
