Rams Clip Vikings 4-3

FRMINGHAM, Mass. -- Brahiam Ortega homered in the first inning for his third home run in two games, but Caleb Hendrix hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth that put Framingham State ahead to stay as the Rams held on for a 4-3 win over Salem State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Tuesday at Bowditch Field.      

Framingham State is now 21-12 on the season and 10-5 in the MASCAC. Salem State slides to 7-24 and 4-11 in conference. 

 

Salem State grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a solo home run to right from Ortega. The Rams took their first lead of the day in the bottom of the third on two-run homer to deep center from Ryan Boyle.  The Vikings retook the lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI ground out from Conor Dolan and RBI single to left by James Dolan. 

Salem State clung to a one-run lead until Hendrix put Framingham State on top with the Rams' second two-run home run of the game.

Cameron Prescott earned the victory on the hill for the Rams going six innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Anthony Panza recorded his fifth save of the season tossing three innings of scoreless relief allowing just two hits with three strikeouts.\

Mason Consigli started for the Vikings and went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks. Kyle Banche and Carl Beatrice combined for three innings of scoreless relief, while not allowing a hit and walking just one with three strikeouts. Jake Boucher and Conor Dolan had two hits apiece for the Vikings. Ortega had a run, RBI and two walks for Salem State.

Caleb Hendrix finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Steven Burbank also recorded a pair of hits.
