Rutgers-Camden Surges Past Salem State

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --  Rutgers-Camden used an eight-run, seventh inning to storm past Salem State 10-4 on Friday at The Ripken Experience. The Scarlet Raptors move a game above .500 (6-5) while Salem State slips to 2-5. Trailing 4-1, Rutgers-Camden opened the seventh with six straight hits. Frankie Romond, provided a bases clearing triple that put the Scarlet Raptors ahead 6-4. Jack Murphy and Auggie Uzdanovics followed with run-producing singles as Rutgers-Camden exited the inning with a 9-4 lead. 

Salem State held a three-run lead after seven innings, plating two unearned runs before Devin Fuegen connected for his first career home-run, a two-run shot that gave the Vikings a 4-1 advantage. Salem State starter Bobby Jellison gave up 13 hits and six earned runs in six innings to take the loss. Fuegen and Jake Boucher each finished with two hits on the day. 

Andrew Brown and Murphy each had three hits for the Scarlet Raptors, with Murphy adding a home run with two runs scored and two RBI. John Kasper earned the win, allowing two unearned runs on six hits with a pair of walks in 6.1 innings.
