Keene State Tops Salem State 9-3

MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- Salem State erased an early 3-0 deficit, but Keene State pulled away in the later innings to earn a 9-3 victory over the Vikings on Monday at Pelicans Ballpark. The Owls go to 2-3 on the season while Salem State remains winless (0-3).

Keene State starter Daniel Cantafi allowed two hits and two runs over six innings with a walk and three strikeouts to earn the victory. A double by Tommy Ahlers and an RBI groundout by Hamilton Barnes staked the Owls to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Owen Duggan put Salem State on the board with an RBI triple in the fourth, and later scored on an error to cut the deficit to 3-2. 

Salem State starter Mason Consigli went four innings, and was charged with two earned runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts. A three-run triple by Brendan Eaton in the sixth broke the game open for the Owls, who added a singe run in the seventh before Eaton struck again with a two-run double in the eighth, making the score 9-3. 

Eaton fininshed 3-for-5 with five RBI for Keene State. Shea Zina allowed a run on five hits over three innings to pick up the save. Duggan and James Dolan each finished 2-for-4 for the Vikings, while Conor Dolan collected a pair of hits in three at-bats.
