Bio

Bette holds the unique distinction of serving as a head coach at the college longer than anyone else. Bette was the head coach of the women’s volleyball program for 39 seasons. She retired after the 2006 season with 423 victories which placed her 27th all-time among career victories leaders at the NCAA Division 3 level. Bette directed the program to six league titles during the first seven years of the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC). Bette, who was twice chosen MASCAC Coach of the Year, guided her 1978 team to the Massachusetts (MAIAW) State title and eastern (EAIAW) Regional Tournament. She was a professor in the college’s physical education/ sports fitness and leisure studies department for 39 years, serving 19 as department chairperson.
