Ariana Moran Named Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State Director of Athletics Nicolle Wood is pleased to announce that Ariana Moran had joined the athletics staff as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. Moran, who had served as the head athletic trainer at Gordon College since 2018, replaces Dr. Scott Braid, who had previously held the position since 2020.

"I am really excited to have Ariana join us and lead the sports medicine team. With over five years experience as a head athletic trainer at a D3 school, she has the experience and vision to help us continue to support our student athletes and provide the highest level of medical care possible. Given the foundation already in place, I look forward to Ariana and the rest of our sports medicine staff elevating the student-athlete experience in the coming years."

Moran will oversee the coordination and delivery of comprehensive medical care for the university's student-athletes, while also playing a key role in athletic department scheduling, operations, and healthcare administration.

Prior to Salem State, Moran served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Gordon College. During her tenure, she provided medical coverage for all 24 varsity teams and served as the primary liaison between the athletic department and local healthcare providers. Her leadership was instrumental in building a well-rounded sports medicine program, expanding the athletic training staff to the largest in program history, and launched a structured internship program to improve clinical operations across the board.

"I am incredibly grateful to Athletic Director Nicolle Wood and the search committee—Chris Harvey, Liz Fell, and Kevin Silva—for the opportunity to serve the student-athletes and coaches of Salem State University as the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine. It's an honor to join a community that values both performance and well-being. My goal is to provide high-quality care to our student-athletes and to ensure that care is delivered fairly, efficiently, and in a way that reflects how deeply we value their health, development, and experience."

From 2016 to 2018, Moran was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Old Dominion University where she supported 19 club sports and contributed to the development of department-wide policies and procedures. She holds a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Old Dominion University (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Boston University (2016).

Moran is a board-certified athletic trainer licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and holds additional certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer.

She currently resides in Beverly, Massachusetts with her husband, Xavier and dog, Beau.
