Vikings Fall 3-1 in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Salem State field hockey traveled to Framingham, Massachusetts this afternoon to take on the Rams of Framingham State University. After sixty minutes, the Rams to the 3-1 victory over the Vikings, dropping Salem to 3-4 in conference action.

Six minutes into the game, Izzy Mosley (Middleborough, Mass.) turned away the first shot she faced before Isabella Kondi (Canaan, N.H.) found the back of the net to give the Rams the 1-0 lead in the twelfth minute of the stanza.

Mikayla Mason (Beverly, Mass.) looked to even the score five minutes into the second but her attempt was wide, keeping the Rams advantage intact. The Rams were able to build on their lead with two minutes to play in the half, when Ashley Malmquist (Medfield, Mass.) snuck one past Mosley to give Framingham the 2-0 edge heading into the break.  

Coming out of the half, Mason cut Framingham's lead in half when she netted a goal of her own just three minutes into the third quarter. Allison Thomas (Carver, Mass.) had the chance to tie the game twice in the final minutes of the third, but back-to-back defensive saves kept the Rams' one-goal advantage alive to head into the final fifteen minutes of play.

Once again, the Vikings had a chance to tie the game in the fourth when Mikayla Mason fired a shot on net, but a third defensive save on the Ram's part denied her attempt. With four minutes to go in the game, Malmquist added another goal to her and her team's tally to solidify their 3-1 victory over the Vikings.
