Field Hockey Takes Down Salem on Senior Day

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State field hockey team defeated Salem State by a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.  

Prior to the game the Rams honored the seven Rams playing in their final season: Kaitlin Loughlin (Ashland, Mass.); Avery Guiel (Westfield, Mass.); Angelina Serra (North Chelmsford, Mass.); Brandi Core (Medway, Mass.) Cori Lawson (Columbia, Maryland); Peyton Coonan (North Oxford, Mass.); Isabella Kondi (Canaan, NH). 

THE BASICS: 

- Score:   Framingham State 3, Salem State 1 

- Records: Framingham State (7-6, 4-3 MASCAC), Salem State (5-8, 3-4 MASCAC) 

- Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams jumped out the a frist quarter lead when Kondi finished off a Serra pass in the 13th minute to go up 1-0. 

  • Framingham State stretched their lead to two in the first half when Ashley Malmquist scored her team leading sixth goal.  

  • The Vikings got in on the scoring when Mikayla Mason scored in the 34th minute. 

  • The Rams answered in the 57th minute when Malmquist scored her second of the game with Kondi assisting.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams held the advantage in shots 8-to-6 while the Vikings had the advantage in corners 8-to-4.  

  • Kaitlyn Tello earned the win for the Rams while Izzy Mosley made one save in the loss for Salem.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to WestConn for a 6pm matchup.
