Women's Basketball Downed by Vikings

SALEM, MA: Fitchburg State women's basketball fell to the Vikings of Salem State in conference action this afternoon.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/20/24

- Score: Salem 87, Fitchburg 72

- Records: Salem (8-9, 2-3 MASCAC), Fitchburg (4-13, 1-4 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Salem took this one after a 31-point performance from Abuk Teng, who finished with a double-double with 11 rebounds. Her teammates Kylie Gates and Ernidia Goncalves also had double-double performances. Gates dropped 15 points and 11 rebounds. She was two assists shy of a triple-double with eight. Goncalves added an additional 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

- For the Falcons, Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA), Stephanie Hart (Shirley, MA), and Morgan Genness (Belgrade, ME) did all they could to keep their team in the contest. Harlow had another game where she scored a team-high 19 points. Hart again had her second double-double of the week with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Genness contributed another 11 points for the Falcons, along with six rebounds and two assists.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shooting: Salem shot 41.3% from the field, 25% from three, and 87.5% from the line. Fitchburg shot 30.4% from the field, 17.4% from three, and 80% from the line.

-  Rebounds: Fitchburg 60, Salem 48

-  Assists: Salem 17, Fitchburg 13
