Strong Second Half Propels Salem State Past Men's Basketball

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team were defeated at home this afternoon 91-75 by Salem State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at the Logan Gymnasium.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Salem State 91, Framingham State 75 

-Records: Framingham State (9-13, 3-6 MASCAC), Salem State (9-12, 6-2 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds from JD Okafor. Okafor connected on 9-of-16 from the floor and added two assists and two steals. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean also contributed a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 14 rebounds including seven on the offensive glass. 

  • Dyree Rogers came off the bench to score 12 points for the Rams, while Adonis Vashon finished with ten points, six rebounds and a steal. 

  • The first half started with four ties and four lead changes and the Vikings leading 17-14 with just under 11 minutes on the clock.  The Rams used a 10-0 run capped by a Vashon three taking a 24-17 lead with just under eight on the clock.  

  • The Vikings answered with a 13-1 run over the next four minutes to go back in front 30-25. The Rams used a three-point play from Dyree Rogers to close the gap to two, 30-28, but the Vikings closed the half out scoring the Rams 11-3 in the final three minutes to lead 41-31 at the half. 

  • The Vikings opened the second half outscoring the Rams 20-7 over the first eight minutes opening up a 61-38 lead.  The Vikings extended the lead to as many as 29 before the Rams chipped away closing the gap to 75-59, but that was as close as the Rams would get.
