Lancers Edge Vikings 5-4
SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State wrapped up their 2021 spring season with a 5-4 loss to Worcester State at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Friday. The Lancers won all three doubles matches, to earn the victory. Anastasia Startseva (Volksburg, Russia) won her fourth consecutive first singles match to remain unbeaten on the year.
 
Dominique Alves (Ludlow, Mass.) / Monika Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) earned a win over Startseva / Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) at first doubles. Despite trailing 7-2, Worcester State (1-0) won the match due to an injury. Charlotte Mullane (Sterling, Mass.) / Emma Collings (Marion, Mass.) defeated Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) / Caroline Robitaille (South Hadley, Mass.) 8-4 at second singles while Rebekah Riley (Ellington, Conn.) / Alyson Langhorst (Natick, Mass.) won 8-5 over Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) / Sara Burke (Deer Park, N.Y.). 
 
Salem State (3-1) rallied in singles play, taking four-of-six matches. Startseva beat Alves, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1. Dahrouge picked up a victory at second singles due to an injury. Alexis Alli (Beverley, Mass.) earned a win at fifth singles 7-6, 6-3 against Riley and Tenney defeated Langhorst at sixth singles 6-2, 7-5.
 
Salem State honored its senior class during a pre-match ceremony. Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.), Alexis Alli (Beverly, Mass.) and Caroline Robitaille (South Hadley, Mass.) were all honored for their dedication and commitment to the program.
