Vikings Double Up Spartans In Season Opener

Castelton, Vt., -- Salem State kicked off their 2019 season with 6-3 conference win over Castleton as new head coach Madeline Allaire registered a victory in her debut. Reigning Little East Rookie & Player of the Year Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) led the charge, winning her No. 1 singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 while teaming with Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) for an 8-2 win at first doubles.

Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) and Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) picked up an 8-5 win at second doubles while Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) and Liana Angelis (Tewksbury, Mass.) recorded an 8-5 victory at third doubles as Salem State swept all three doubles matches. 

In singles play, Robitalle and Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) opened their seasons with convincing 6-1, 6-0 wins at third and fifth singles respectively, to round out the scoring  for Salem State.
