Vikings Wrap Up Regular Season With 3-1 Win Over Rivier

LOWELL, Mass. -- Salem State closed out the regular season with a 3-1 win over Rivier on Tuesday evening at Janas Memorial Skating Rink. The Vikings, who defeated the Raiders 4-0 last week, finish with a record of 7-15-2 and will now prepare to face top seed Elmira on Saturday in the opening round of the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Post-Season Tournament. Rivier is now 6-13-2.

Caroline Barrett put Salem State on top, 1-0 at 6:10 of the first. However, Brianna Parent tied the game for the Raiders with a score at the 15:09 mark of the opening period. Catherine Lawrence put the Vikings back in front with a power-play goal early in the second. Kendra Currier padded the lead with an unassisted score in the third and NEHC goalie of the week Hannah Aveni picked up her third straight victory, as she totaled 17 saves on the night, including 11 over the final two periods.

Rachel Hinkley made 38 saves for Rivier, who were outshot 41-18.
