UMass Boston Cruises Past Salem State 6-1
SALEM, Mass. --  Victoria Kennedy made 25 saves as UMass Boston picked up a 6-1 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) win over Salem State at Rockett Arena on Saturday. The Beacons advance their record to 8-10-1 and 6-5-1 in the NEHC. The Vikings stumble to 3-12-1 and 1-10-1 in the league. 
 
UMass Boston struck first as Cailey Kozich slammed in a rebound at 12:15 of the opening period. The Beacons added three consecutive goals in the second to surge ahead 4-0. Margeaux Butters made it 2-0 early in the period as she ripped a slapshot past goalie Dana Smullen. Isabella Brown made it 3-0 in favor of the Beacons with a power-play goal at the 8:09 mark. Emma Webster went top-shelf for a 4-0 UMass Boston lead with 00:51 seconds left in the second. 
 
Gianna Beauclair put Salem State on the board, depositing a loose puck to break the shutout at 1:50 of the third period. UMass Boston added their fifth goal as the Beacons' Allie Reifler slipped a shot in between the pads of goalie Dana Smullen. Emily Franciszkowicz capped the scoring with less than a minute left, making the final 6-1.
 
Kennedy improves her record to 4-6 in net while Smullen, who stopped 25 shots, goes to 2-3. UMass Boston held a slight 31-26 advantage in shots on goal. The Vikings finished the game 0-for-9 on the power-play.
