Lancers Top Vikings 3-1

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Worcester State posted a 3-1 victory over Salem State at the Fidelity Ice Arena on Friday evening. The wins boosts the Lancers to 6-4 on the year. The Vikings slip to 2-8-1. Emily Pavoni scored two first period goals to seal the win. 

Off of a deflection, Kendra Currier (Middleton, MA) scored to put Salem State up 1-0 at 8:07 of the first. However, Worcester State quickly retaliated with a goal of their own by Pavoni in the 11th minute. In the final minute of the period, Pavoni sent the puck into the back of the Vikings' net again off of a rebound to put the Lancers up 2-1. 

Neither team scored in the second, setting up Clare Conway to ice the win as she scored at the 3:34 mark of the third, making the score 3-1. Kelsey Czerniawski stopped 23 shots in the victory. Kaia Hollingsworth made 40 saves in the loss for Salem State. Worcester State fired off 43 shots to the Vikings' 24 attempts for the game.
