Elmira Ends Vikings' Season

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Third ranked Elmira scored three first period goals enroute to an 8-0 victory over Salem State in the quarterfinal round of the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Tournament. The Soaring Eagles improve to 22-2 1 on the season while the Vikings finish the year 6-20.

Emma Crocker, Morgan Mordini and Eliza Beaudin scored two goals each and goalie Leonie Kuehberger made nine saves in the shutout. Mordini scored just :24 seconds into the opening period as Elmira posted three first period goals while limiting Salem State to just three shots on net. 

Crocker made it 4-0 early in the second to highlight a five goal period for the Soaring Eagles. Erika Goleniak capped the scoring with a goal at the 19:56 mark, making the score 8-0 heading into the third.

The Soaring Eagles did not score in the final period despite outshooting the Vikings 14-1 for the period, finishing the game with a 52-9 advantage in shots on goal.

Hannah Aveni took the loss in net, stopping 30 shots. Kaia Hollingsworth played the final period, making all 14 saves. Elmira finished 3-for-5 on the power-play while Salem State went 0-for-3.
