Southern Maine Gets Past Salem State 4-1

GORHAM, Maine – Southern Maine scored two goals in the first and two in the third to get past Salem State 4-1 at USM Ice Arena on Friday evening. The win puts the Huskies at 14-9 on the year and 11-6 in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). The Vikings slide to 5-18 and 2-15 in conference.

Georgie Snow (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) gave the Huskies an early 1-0 lead when she put in a nice wrap around goal midway through the first period. Giving the Huskies a two-goal cushion, Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt.) scored her 11th goal of the season in the 14th minute of play.

Salem State answered back just five minutes into the second period when Carolyn Mahoney (Melrose, Mass.) found the back of the net.

The third period was dominated by Huskies' seniors as Douglas and Binette scored and Nelson and Doty both picked up assists.

Haley McKim (Moncton, NB) made 11 saves in the win. Kaia Hollingsworth (Methuen, Mass.) stopped 26 shots for the Vikings.
