Castleton Wins 3-0 Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass. – Brooke Greenwood (Brampton, Ontario) scored two goals and Izabella Segui (Newington, Conn.) made 18 saves in goal as Castleton blanked Salem State 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Rockett Arena in a New England Hockey Conference matchup. Castleton evens their record to 8-8-2 and improves to 6-5-1 in the NEHC. Salem State is now 3-16 and 1-13 in conference.

Castleton's Darby Palisi (Concord, N.H.) slipped a pass from behind the net to Julia Carpenter (Plymouth, Mich.), who put home the first goal of the game just 1:57 into the opening period.

Leading 1-0 in the second, Brooke Greenwood (Brampton, Ontario) extended the Spartans' lead to 2-0 as she deflected in a shot past goalie Hannah Aveni (Melrose, Mass.) 3:29 into the  period. Castleton held a 25-12 advantage in shots through the first two period.

In an evenly contested third period, Greenwood iced the game for the Spartans, scoring a shorthanded goal with less than two minutes remaining. Segui made six saves in the final period to secure the shutout and her first win of the year. Aveni made 34 stops in the loss.
