Worcester State Blanks Salem State 2-0

SALEM, Mass. – Worcester State scored two second period goals and Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 22 saves as the Lancers defeated Salem State 2-0 at Rockett Arena on Tuesday evening. Worcester State improves to 7-2-2 while the Vikings go to 2-10.

Both teams killed off a penalty in a first period that saw Salem State outshoot Worcester State 10-5. However, neither team could find the back of the net as the teams skated to a 0-0 tie after 20 minutes.

Shelby Reaugh Raleigh, N.C.) put the Lancers on the scoreboard first when she went top-shelf from just inside the left faceoff circle for a 1-0 Worcester State lead midway through the second period. Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.) made it 2-0 three and half minutes later when she redirected a shot past Hannah Aveni (Melrose, Mass.).

The Lancers outshot the Vikings 26 to 12 after the first period and held off three third period powerplays by the Vikings to secure the two-goal victory.
