Anna Maria Tops Salem State 3-1

MARLBORO, Mass. --  Salem State lost 3-1 to Anna Maria on Friday night at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Massachusetts. The AMCATS move to 5-6-1 on the year while the Vikings now stand at 2-9. 

Salem State jumped on top 1-0 at 9:38 of the first when MacKenzie Mallett (York, ME) netted the first goal of the game. However, Anna Maria sophomore  Sam Deiches (Dix Hills, NY) scored the equalizer for the AMCATS 12:39 into the second before Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS) scored the go-ahead goal and eventual game winner with just over a minute left in the second period.

Anna Maria freshman forward Jordyn Bleaney (Nanoose Bay, BC) added an insurance goal 3:58 into the third.

Anna Maria  goalkeeper Julia Smith (Chillwack, BC) picked up the win, stopping 34 of 35 shots. Kaia Hollingsworth mase 22 saves for Salem State. The Vikings totaled 36 shots compared to 25 by the AMCATS.
