Norwich Blanks Salem State 8-0

SALEM, Mass. – Norwich had four players score two goals apiece as the Cadets blanked Salem State 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Rockett Arena in a New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) match. Julia Masotta (Tewksbury, Mass.), Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.), Melianne Reynolds (Sherbrooke, Quebec) and Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, Ontario) all found the back of the net twice as Norwich improves to 5-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference. The Vikings go to 2-8 and 1-7 in the NEHC.

Masotta, who was set up by Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.), scored the game's first goal for Norwich at 11:24 of the first. Later, Guay poked home a loose puck for a 2-0 Cadets' lead at the 16:27 mark. Norwich held a 12-2 advantage in shots in the first period.

Guay added her second goal of the game, going top-shelf for a 3-0 Norwich lead 7:57 into the second. Masotta connected for her second of the game at the 11:47 mark before Reynolds gave Norwich a 5-0 lead, putting home a rebound with five minutes left in the period.

The Cadets added three goals in the third to win 8-0. Baptiste muscled in a rebound 1:39 into the period, before Reynols added her second goal of the game with a backhander at 2:26 of the third. Baptiste added a power play goal midway through the third to cap the scoring. 

Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) made three saves for Norwich, which outshot Salem State 34-3. Hannah Aveni (Melrose, Mass.) had 26 stops for the Vikings.
