Late Goal Helps Salem State to 3-3 Tie With Plymouth State

SALEM, Mass. - Plymouth State and Salem State skated to a 3-3 overtime draw at Richard H. Rockett Arena on Friday night. The Panthers' Alexis Fagan (Burriville, R.I.) and the Vikings' Ally Webster (Hanson, Mass.) each scored two goals for their teams. Plymouth State is now 6-14-4 on the year and 4-7-4 in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) while Salem State is 6-13-4 on the season and 3-9-3 in conference.

Ellen Svane (Thunder Bay, Ontario) picked up a penalty for tripping late in the first. On the ensuing power play, Ally Webster (Hanson, Mass.) took a shot a foot away from goalie Emelie Lindqvist (Gulleråsen, Sweden). Lindqvist deflected the puck, but Webster was able to regain control and gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead with 12 seconds remaining in the period.

At 18:36 in the second period the Vikings went up 2-0. Kerryann Goode (Millis, Mass.) wrapped around the goal and the puck hit off Lindqvist. In perfect position, Webster recovered the puck to score Salem State's second goal of the game.

The momentum started to shift as penalties were assessed to Danielle Kelley (Charlestown, Mass.) and Julie Nagel (Canton, Mass.) for roughing. There was a faceoff in the Vikings' zone. The Vikings couldn't find the puck and Fagan put the Panthers on the board making the score 2-1.

Plymouth State tied the game at 2-2 as there was a pile of players battling for the puck in front of the Vikings' net. Hannah Bradshaw (Traverse City, Mich.) managed to gain possession of the puck and tipped it in from the right side with 3:21 left.

With 2:08 remaining in the second period, Sydney Linnick (Highlands, Ranch, Colo.) passed it inside to Fagan who shot it high into the net to put the Panthers up 3-2 as Plymouth State scored three unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 deficit.

Goode's goal tied the game at 3-3 with 3:15 in the third period which forced overtime. Neither could claim the game-winning goal resulting in a tie.

Woodward saved 13 shots for Salem State and Lindqvist had 17 saves.
