Falcons Come From Behind, Defeat Vikings on Senior Night

SALEM, Mass. – Mykel Stinson (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored four second half goals to lead Albertus Magnus to an 11-8 victory over Salem State on "Senior Night" at Alumni Field on Wednesday evening. Stinson scored two third period goals as the Falcons erased a 5-3 halftime deficit. Patrick Guinee (Gloucester, Mass.) once again led the Vikings with five goals. Albertus Magnus is now 2-7 on the season while Salem State finishes 0-4.

Salem State honored its senior class before the game as Hunter Spencer (Beverly, Mass.), Tyler Harrington (Tewksbury, Mass.), Nick Quirk (Fitchburg, Mass.), Mitch Wilkins (Uxbridge, Mass.), Doug Gibbs (Reading, Mass.) and Dan Xu (Billerica, Mass.) all played their final game at Alumni Field.

Guinee opened the scoring on an assist from Aristomenis Koumenta (Westfield, Mass.) at 8:40 of the first. However, Albertus Magnus scored three straight, including back-to-back man-up goals from Charles Stewart (Stratford, Conn.) to end the first.

The second period belonged to the Vikings, who scored four unanswered goals to take a 5-3 halftime lead. Jared Davis (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Kevin Albert (Canton, Mass.), Guinee and Quirk all found the back of the net.

The Falcons held a 21-20 advantage in shots in the first half.

In the third, Stinson cut the deficit to one score with a goal at the 10:44 mark. A Guinee goal once again gave the Vikings a two-goal cushion, but Stinson and Stewart netted goals for Albertus Magnus less than two minutes apart, tying the game at 6-6.

Guinee gave Salem State the lead once more, but Kader Price (Walden, N.Y.) and Jon Olson (Bellmore, N.Y.) pushed the momentum back to the Falcons with consecutive goals to end the period, giving Albertus Magnus an 8-7 lead.

Stinson added two more scores in the fourth and Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) iced the game with 3:56 left, as the Falcons built an 11-7 advantage before Guinee ended the scoring, making the final 11-8.

Goalie Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.) stopped 12 shots in the win while Colby Spear (Chicopee, Mass.) made six saves in the loss.
