Huskies Run Past Vikings 17-2

SALEM, Mass. --  Andrew Lawrence (North Yarmouth, Maine) notched five goals and Tristan Dundas (Abbotsford, B.C.) added four, including his school record-breaking 100th career goal, as Southern Maine ran past Salem State 17-2 on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field. The Huskies (1-3) have now won six straight against the Vikings (0-2).

Southern Maine set the tempo early, scoring the first four goals, three by Lawrence, to race out to an early 4-0 advantage. Kevin Albert (Canton, Mass.) got one back for the home team before Colin Kinney (Belgrade, Maine) answered late in the quarter, giving the Huskies a 5-1 lead at the end of one.

Dundas and Albert exchanged goals to open the second, before Evan Owen (Durham, N.H.) and Dundas combined for three goals as Southern Maine increased their lead to 9-2 at the half.

Southern Maine held a 21-16 advantage in shots and won 8-of-13 faceoffs at the break.

Lawrence and Joe Cullinan (Contoocook, N.H.) tallied the only goals of the third for Southern Maine, which entered the fourth leading 11-2.

The Huskies added six goals in the fourth, two by Dundas, as Southern Maine close the game with 11 unanswered goals.

Josh Cahill (Bristol, Conn.) picked up his first win of the season in net, making eight saves, while Jon Crutchfield (Boylston, Mass.) stopped 14 shots in the loss.
