Salem State Shuts Out Northern Vermont-Lyndon 16-0

New Hampton, N.H. -- Preston DoughertyDrew Worthley and Kevin Albert each notched a hat-trick as Salem State blanked Northern Vermont-Lyndon 16-0 at New Hampton Prep on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings opened an 8-0 halftime lead as Nick Quirk and Zach Persson each had multi-goal games during the first 30 minutes. The Vikings improve to 2-1 on the season while the Hornets open 0-1.  

Salem State led 3-0 after one period, outshooting Northern Vermont-Lyndon 16-1 in the firts quarter. Persson scored two second quarter goals, the second giving the Vikings a 7-0 lead with 2:10 left. Dougherty added a man-up goal just before the half ended as Salem State limited the Hornets to just eight first half shots.  

Worthley and Dougherty exchanged two goals apiece in the third quarter as the Vikings opened up a 12-0 lead.  Albert added back-to-back scores to push  the score to 15-0 before Royal capped the scoring with an unassisted goal with 3:41 remaining.

Jack Ganter earned the net in win while Jonathan Crutchfield stopped three shots in relief. Aaron Florence took the loss stopping 14-of-30 shots.  

Salem State held a 50-17 advantage in shots and a 36-13 margin in turnovers.
