Bio

Karen Atkinson, was named head field hockey coach in May of 2022 after serving as an assistant coach under Stephanie Rouse since August of 2019. Atkinson is currently an elementary physical education teacher in Revere, MA. Prior to her teaching career she held the assistant field hockey position at Daniel Webster College (Nashua, NH) in the fall of 2011 followed by stepping into the role of head women’s lacrosse coach for the spring of 2012.     

A native of Reading, Mass., Atkinson is a 2011 graduate of Salem State University where she was a varsity letter winner in field hockey with the Vikings and earned a degree in Sport and Movement Science with a concentration on Fitness/Wellness, graduating with honors. Along with receiving her bachelors from Salem State, she graduated in May 2015 with Master of Education, Leadership in Physical Education. Currently she is finishing her CAGs through American International College in School Leadership.

Along with her collegiate playing and DWC experience, Atkinson also spent time in different roles within different field hockey and lacrosse programs in the Middlesex league and Northeast conference over the past ten years.
