Bio

One of the finest basketball players and pure shooters ever to play for Salem, Caruso, a native of Somerville, was a mainstay of the team scoring more than 1,000 points during his career. In 1960, he was the team’s most valuable player and was selected as co-captain his final year of intercollegiate competition.

 

A teacher and senior class advisor at Revere High School, he has continued to be active in basketball serving as Head Coach at Immaculate Conception in revere and as both assistant and freshman coach at Revere High School. Caruso, after completing his undergraduate degree at Salem, continued his education receiving a Masters from Suffolk University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from the University of Massachusetts. He is active in several professional organizations and the Knights of Columbus in Wilmington where he and his wife Donna (Delli Colli) reside. The have two children, Amy and Robert.
