Bio

As a faculty member and an administrator, Dr. Hart played a major role in establishing the ground work for the women’s intercollegiate athletic program. She taught at Salem State College from 1952 to 1971, and served as both a professor and Chairperson of the Women’s Physical Education Department from 1961 to 1971. Author of several books including Field Hockey: An International Team Sport, Dr. Hart also wrote many articles in her field. A longtime member of the United States Field Hockey Association, she has held many regional and national positions within the organization. During her playing days, she was right halfback on USFHA’s team.

Hart received her education at Boston University earning a Bachelors Degree and both a Masters and Doctorate in Education. She has served as a consultant to school systems, developing sports curricula, and to public television, coordinating a ten-part series on sports for WGBH in Boston. She has won many awards from professional groups of which she is a member. Hart and her Husband, Edward, make their winter home in Englewood, Florida. The summer months find them in Murphy, North Carolina.
