Salem, MA - The Lasell Women's Lacrosse team beat the Salem State Vikings on tuesday by a final score of 5-3. With the win the Lasers move to 2-1 on the season, while the Vikings are now 0-2.

The Lasers opened the scoring up just two minutes into the game when Teresa Kessner scored. She would then assist on a Kaitlin Bedell goal midway through the quarter. Bedell would add a second goal with two minutes remaining in the first to put the Lasers up 3-0. After almost going the entire second quarter without a goal, the Vikings got on the board with less than a minute remaining in the half. After a 3-1 first half, the second half was just as defensive. Both teams scored once in each quarter, with Kessner scoring both goals for Lasell.

The story of the game was the play of Lasell goalie, Joy Sayah. Sayah, coming off her second straight GNAC Goalie of the Week award, stopped 21 of the 24 shots she faced. The 21 saves mark the 6th most saves by a Lasell Goalie in program history.

Bedell and Kessner accounted for all the offense for Lasell, and also led the team in caused turnovers with two each. Michelle Zaluga led the team with five ground balls and four draw controls.

Up next - The Lasers will kick off conference play on Saturday when they host Saint Joseph's (ME) at 12pm.
