Men’s Lacrosse Can’t Overcome Early Deficit, Fall to Salem State, 24-4

SALEM, Mass. – The MCLA Lacrosse team took to the road this evening for a non-conference matchup with the Salem State Vikings at Alumni Field. It was a long day for the Trailblazers, as the Vikings peppered the MCLA net, scoring 24 goals on 64 shots.

- Series History: Salem State leads the all-time series 2-1, including a 18-6 win last season in North Adams on February 24th. MCLA won the first-ever meeting of the teams on March 13, 2022, in Salem.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Salem State opened the scoring early in the first period, running out to a 5-0 lead through one quarter, and a 15-0 lead before MCLA put their first point on the board.
- Junior midfielder Anthony Andolina (Ballston Spa, NY) notched that first goal for the Trailblazers with 46 seconds left in the first half. The unassisted goal was Andolina's second goal of the season.
- The Vikings expanded on their lead in the third period, scoring seven more goals against a single tally by sophomore midfielder Neal Brierley (North Adams, MA) for the Trailblazers. The goal came with 6:50 left in the third quarter was unassisted.
- The teams split the fourth quarter with Salem scoring two before MCLA added two in the final five minutes. The Trailblazers goals were both unassisted and were credited to Brierley (4:42, unassisted) and sophomore midfielder Ty Roadcap (Troy, NY). The goals were the fourth of the year for Brierley and the first for Roadcap.
- Salem was led by four goals each for Landon Rice and Matthew Lindstrom, and hat tricks from Fisher Gadbois and Grady Smith.
