NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Anais Badio and Elizabeth Brown each had 12 kills this afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center leading the MCLA Volleyball team to a decisive three-set senior day sweep of MASCAC rival Salem State.

  • Score: Salem State 0, MCLA 3
  • Records: Salem State 7-9 (MASCAC 2-3) | MCLA Trailblazers 15-3 (MASCAC 4-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • MCLA Senior Julia Conturso went on a 5-pont service run early in the 1st set to make it 6-1 forcing a Salem State timeout. The hosts extend that lead to double digits at 16-6 and after a Chloie Garber kill, led 20-9.  The Vikings would try to regroup taking another timeout but MCLA ultimately took opening set, 25-12.
  • Another 4-point Conturso service run early in the 2nd gave the Trailblazers a six-point cushion at 7-1 which they held for much of the set. An Anias Badio kill gave MCLA their largest lead at 17-9 but the Vikings battled back to tie the match at 22-22. But a Garber kill reclaimed the lead and two points later a Badio kill gave the Trailblazers a commanding 2-0 lead.
  • MCLA was never threatened in the 3rd set taking it 25-12. A thunderous match point kill by Badio clinched the sweep and leaving no doubt who the better team was today.
