SALEM, Mass.— The MCLA Men's Ice Hockey team dropped their third straight MASCAC game to the Salem State Vikings this evening, falling by a score of 6-1. The Trailblazers did get a goal from Easton Moore.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Thursday, November 16, 2023
  • Score: MCLA 1, Salem State 6
  • Records: MCLA Trailblazers 1-3-1 (MASCAC 0-3-1) | Salem State Vikings 3-2-0 (MASCAC 3-1-0)

HOW IT WENT DOWN

  • MCLA found themselves in a deep hole starting early in the game. A power-play goal with just over four minutes off the clock, Salem State's Luke Day scored, with assists from Landyn Greatorex and Zach Dill to set the tone.
  • The host Vikings added two more goals in the opening stanza as goals were credited to Jake Stapert (assists by Mitch Wilkie and Christopher Dowd) and Chase Conlon (assists by Ethan Demumbrum and Rafael Praysner).
  • Stapert added a second goal as the clock passed the seven-minute mark of the second period, scoring an unassisted goal at 7:13. Salem State found the back of the net 59 seconds later when Joe Quigley scored, assisted by Demumbrum.
  • A Trailblazer finally lit the lamp with just under eight minutes remaining in the second period. Easton Moore scored on a breakaway when a pair of Vikings failed to keep the puck in the offensive zone near the blue line. Moore outskated both to the puck, skated in on the netminder, pulled the puck towards himself to keep it away from a defender, and fired a low shot through the goalie's legs. The goal was his first of the season and first in his collegiate career.
  • Salem State added another goal in the third period, tallying another power-play goal at the 13:50 mark by Dill, with assists going to Christopher Dowd and Erik Larsson.
