SALEM, Mass.— Regis College Women's Lacrosse traveled to Salem State University to take on the Vikings in a non-conference matchup. The home team used a pair of five-goal quarters to guide them to a 14-5 victory over the Pride at Alumni Field. The loss drops the Pride to 2-3 on the season.
Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) led the Pride with three goals and one assist, while Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) contributed two goals and four caused turnovers. Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) turned away 10 and seven shots, respectively, in the effort.
The Vikings were led by Jordan Turcotte, who registered a game-high six goals, while Aislinn Bennett added three goals, eight caused turnovers, and six groundballs in the victory.
How it Happened:
- Mazo turned away the first three shots of the game before the Vikings were able to sneak two past her, taking a 2-0 lead with 4:35 remaining in the opening stanza. The Pride capitalized on a man-up possession in the final 13 seconds, as Mason cut the Vikings' lead in half just before the end of the frame.
- Five different Vikings found the back of the net in the second quarter before Mason notched her second goal of the game, sending the game into the break with the home team leading 7-2.
- Mason scored her third goal of the game three minutes into the third quarter, but the Vikings would add five goals in the stanza to take a 12-3 lead heading into the fourth.
- Higgins would add a pair of goals for the Pride in the fourth before the Vikings went on to take the 14-5 victory over the Pride.
