Norwich Posts 3-0 Victory Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass. – Norwich posted a 3-0 win over Salem State in a non-conference matchup at Twohig Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Cadets won 25-19, 25-12 and 25-7 to improve to 5-2 on the year. The Vikings slide to 1-7.

Three early kills by Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) gave Norwich an early 12-9 lead in set one. Maggie McNeil(Gilford, N.H.), who had four kills in the first set, hit .667 to keep the Cadets in front. Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) kept Norwich on top 19-15 with her fifth kill, before finishing with seven for the set as Norwich won game one, 25-19. (Genevieve Kempster (Hopedale, Mass.) played well for Salem State, adding five kills and four digs while hitting at a .556 clip. 

Three consecutive attack errors helped Norwich to a 14-11 set two lead. The Vikings allowed seven consecutive points while earning just one kill as Norwich cruised to a 25-12 win. Kathryn Farnum added four more kills in the set while Sarah Farnum ((North Andover, Mass.) added three aces.  

Norwich hit .481 in set three, racking up 16 kills to easily dispatch the Vikings.  Three straight kills by Addison Hall (Apple Valley, Calif.), who had eight for the set gave the Cadets a 15-4 lead. Norwich closed out the set and match with a 10-3 run highlighted by two more kills and two service aces by Hall.

Kathryn Farnum tallied a game-high 15 kills to go with 10 digs. Sarah Farnum topped both teams with 37 assists while adding seven digs. Laura Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) recorded 20 digs.  

Kempster led Salem State with five kills and seven digs. Danielle Sheehan (Walpole, Mass.) had a team-high 12 digs while Eva Haralabatos (Melrose, Mass.) finished with 12 assists.
