Plymouth State Stops Salem State on Senior Day

SALEM, Mass. -- Plymouth State dispatched Salem State, 8-1 on "Senior Day" at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon in a Little East (LEC) tilt. The Panthers go to 6-5 on the season and 4-3 in conference. The Vikings end their 2023 campaign, 0-12 and 0-8 in the LEC.

Seniors Cassie Liu  (Guangzhou, China) and Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) were honored before the match for their commitment and dedication to the women's tennis program.

Erin Curristin won at fifth singles for Salem State's lone point. Curristin came back to defeat Camilla Puzio after losing the first set tie-breaker, 7-6 (7-5). She finished strong winning, 6-2 and 10-8 for her fifth victory of the season (5-7). 

Plymouth State opened the match, sweeping doubles play. Alyssa Craigie / Elena Cardoso won, 8-4 over Kenzie McLaren / Miah Reyes at first singles. Tessa LaBarre / Camilla Puzio took care of Abbie Laliberte / Samantha Tenney at second singles, winning, 8-3 while Chloe Ahern / Amelia Brown defeated Erin Curristin / Ryann Tripp, 8-2 at third doubles.

LaBarre also posted a, 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles over Tenney and Craigie beat Kenzie McLaren, 6-1, 6-0 at second singles.
