Spartans Triumph 6-3 Over Vikings
RUTLAND, Vt. – Vermont State University Castleton defeated Salem State, 6-3 in a Little East match at the Vermont Sport & Fitness Club Saturday afternoon. The Spartans improve to 4-8 and 2-5 in the LEC. The Vikings are now 0-9 and 0-5.
A doubles sweep by Castleton led by first doubles tandem Stella Forte / Madelyn Nonni's 8-2 decision over Cassie Liu / Kenzie McLaren and Camille Jackson / Devon Kibbey's second doubles win against Miah Reyes / Ryann Tripp by a score of 8-4 gave the Spartans an early lead.
Salem State earned three points in singles play, with Samantha Tenney winning 6-2, 6-4 over Nonni at second singles and Tripp winning her team-high fifth match of the year, defeating Kibbey, 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles. Erin Curristin picked up a victory at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1 over Olivia Rutkowski.
