Bears Race Past Vikings 8-1
SALEM, Mass. – Bridgewater State defeated Salem State 8-1 in a Little East Conference (LEC) match at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears improve to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in the Little East while the Vikings slip to 0-8 and 0-4 in conference.
Bridgewater swept all three doubles matches to start, with two coming by shutout. Madeline Von Ruden / Mackenzie Silveira defeated Kenzie McLaren / Miah Reyes, 8-0 at first doubles while Yasmine Queen / Samantha Bettencourt beat Erin Curristin / Alanna Zaldivar, 8-0 at third doubles. Allison Carter / Meghan Lotti topped Samantha Tenney / Ryann Tripp, 8-3 at second doubles.
Tripp picked up the only point for Salem State with a 1-6, 6-4, 13-11 tie-breaker win over Queen at fourth singles.
Bridgewater State won the remaining five matches in straight sets, with Von Ruden shutting out Tenney, 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and Silveira topping McLaren, 6-2, 6-0 at second singles.
