DANBURY, Conn.  -- Western Connecticut defeated Salem State 8-1, in the Little East opener for both squads on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings remain winless on they year (0-4).  Samantha Tenney / Kenzie McLaren won 2nd doubles, 9-7 over Diana Rebelo / Sophie Chabonneau for Salem State's lone point. 

Cierra Kitt defeated Cassie Liu, 6-1, 6-0 at 1st singles while Melanie Grasso beat Tenney, 6-2, 6-1 at 2nd singles to propel Western Connecticut to a sweep of all six singles matches in straight sets. Kitt /  Grasso shutout Liu / Reyes, 8-0 at first doubles.
