Startseva Voted Little East Co-Player of the Year, Floyd Named to First Doubles Team

SALEM, Mass . -- Anastasia Startseva (Volksburg, Russia ) was voted Little East Co-Women's Tennis Player of the Year in an announcement by the league on Wednesday. Startseva, who also earned first-team singles and doubles recognition for the third time, earned conference player of the year honors as a freshman in 2018.

Teammate Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) was named to the LEC first doubles team along with Startseva, while Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) was selected to receive the league's team sportsmanship award.

The former LEC Rookie-of-the-Year finished the year 16-0 at first singles, including an 8-0 record against conference competition, the second time in her career that she has completed a conference season without a loss, going 9-0 in 2018. Startseva has compiled a 38-3 record in three seasons, including a 24-1 mark in conference. Her 16 wins are the second most victories in a season at Salem State, just one behind Kia Tanaka, who went 17-0 in 2006.

Floyd and Startseva partnered at first singles, and combined went 13-4 for Salem State in 2021, including an 8-0 record in Little East matches. The pair's 13 doubles victories are one short of the school record of 14 set by Michelle McEwen and Lauren Turenne in 2011.
