Panthers Knock Vikings Out of Little East Playoffs

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Third-seeded Plymouth State University swept doubles play before earning a pair of singles wins to top sixth-seeded Salem State University, 5-0, in the first round of the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Tennis Tournament at the Holderness School Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

Anastasia Startseva (Volksburg, Russia) /Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) lost their first doubles conference match of the year, 8-5 to Kira Winter (Eliot, Mine) / Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.). Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) / Abbie Laliberte (Gardner, Mass.) were beaten by Julie Miller (Woburn, Mass.) / Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.), 8-1 while Tessa LaBarre (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) earned an 8-0 win at third doubles.

The Panthers (11-4) won fifth and sixth singles to clinch the victory as Miller defeated Miah Reyes (Raytown, Mo.), 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles while Cardoso topped Cassie Liu (Guangzhou, China), 6-0, 6-1 at sixth singles to help Plymouth State advance to the semifinal round 6-0.
