Rhode Island College Tops Salem State 7-2

SALEM, Mass. -- Rhode Island College remained unbeaten on the year with a 7-2 win over Salem State in a Little East match on Saturday afternoon at the Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Anchorwomen improve to 11-0 and 6-0 in the LEC while the Vikings slip to 3-10 and 2-4 in the league.

Anastasia Startseva (Volksburg, Russia) remained unbeaten at first singles, going to 13-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.).  Startseva / Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) teamed up to win a point at first doubles, 8-7 (7-5) in a tie-breaker set.  Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) / Clara Siegmund (Pomfret, Conn.) defeated Abbie Laliberte (Gardner, Mass.) / Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) 8-0 at second doubles and Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) / Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) beat  Cassie Liu (Guangzhou, China ) / Miah Reyes (Raytown, Mo.) 8-0 at third doubles.

Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Floyd at second singles for Rhode Island College, who swept the remaining singles matches with Siegmund only allowing a point.
