UMass Boston Prevails 6-3

SALEM, Mass. -- Anastasia Startseva (Volksburg, Russia) picked up her Little East leading eighth win at first singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Meagan Carney (Arlington, Mass.), but UMass Boston prevailed 6-3 over the Vikings at the Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Beacons improve to 3-2 overall and even their LEC record at 2-2. The Vikings slip to 2-7 and 1-3 in conference. 

Startseva / Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) also won at first doubles with an 8-6 victory over Carney / Lydia Chan (Quincy, Mass.). UMass Boston took second doubles as Elena Albano (Haverhill, Mass.) / Lia Vassiliadis (Weymouth, Mass.) defeated  Samantha Tenney (Danvers, Mass.) / Abbie Laliberte (Gardner, Mass.) 8-2. Meaghan Moriarty ((Norton, Mass.) / Tanya Kibiy (Rockville, Md.) secured the final point for the Beacons with an 8-3 win at third doubles over Cassie Liu (Guangzhou, China) / Miah Reyes (Raytown, Mo.).

Liu earned the final point for Salem State with a win over Skylar Robles (Spokane, Wash.), who withdrew at sixth singles, after Liu won the first set 6-4 and was leading set two, 4-1.
