UMass Dartmouth Gets Past Salem State 6-3

BEVERLY, Mass. -- UMass Dartmouth upended Salem State 6-3 in a Little East Conference match on Tuesday afternoon at the Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly, Mass. The Corsairs improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference. The Vikings slip to 1-6 and 1-2 in the LEC.

Salem State opened play by taking two-of-three doubles matches. Anastasia Startseva (Volksburg, Russia) / Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.) continued their strong play at first doubles with an 8-1 win over Yasemin Kurtis (Frankfurt, Germany) / Jackie Bokis (Spencer, Mass.). Cassie Liu (Guangzhou, China) / Miah Reyes (Raytown, Mo.) picked up the second point for the Vikings with an 8-5 decision over Jordan Beals (Webster, Mass.) / McKenzie Ferrari (Tewksbury, Mass.).

Startseva won the only singles match, defeating Kurtis in straight sets at first singles, 6-1, 6-1. UMass Dartmouth swept the five remaining flights, with four wins coming in straight sets. Liu managed to take Beals to a third set (6-3, 1-6) before losing 10-8 at sixth singles.
